The building faces southwest and is a four story red colored brick, glass and concrete structure. The building is located in the center of Miami. The building has a north and east wing which join to form the southwest entrance.

Ottawa County was created in 1907 and named for the Ottawa Native American tribe of Oklahoma. As of the 2020 census, the population was 30,285. Its county seat is Miami. The building houses the County District Court of the 13th Judicial District.

Designed by BKL Incorporated of Tulsa, the courthouse features a canopy over the entrance and glass panels rising to the roof line. The Court Clerk’s Office handles civil, criminal, probate, juvenile, domestic relations, and small claims divisions of court.

There is a free parking lot on the west side of the building and a free lot across the street to the west. Also there is free street parking on the east side of the building.
