The building faces west and is a two story red colored brick and concrete structure. The building is located on landscaped grounds in the center of Pryor. The center section and the north and south wings extend from the main building. The center section has a peaked roof and a glass wall extending upwards from the first story entrance.

Mayes County was created in 1907 and named for Samuel H Mayes, who was a Cherokee Chief. The county serves just under 50,000 residents with Pryor as the county seat. The building houses the County District Court of the 12th Judicial District.

The courthouse serves as the central hub for legal proceedings in the county, handling civil, probate, juvenile, domestic relations, and small claims divisions. The courthouse houses the County Commissioners, County Clerk, County Assessor, and the County Treasurer.

There is a free parking lot to the west of the building and also free street parking on the north and west sides of the building

Local Highlights

I always recommend JLs BBQ and say the beans are an absolute must. So good! Also the owner at Charlies Chicken is very nice and they put out great food. You cant go wrong with either place in our opinion.
